Wanna Host a Home Wine Tasting Party?
Home Wine Tasting 8/27/11:

Last night was our first shot at a wine tasting party. We invited about 20 of our friends over for a night of wine tasting and good times. The rules were simple:
Setting up and preparing was easy also:
By the time we were ready we had 20 bottles of wine wrapped in paper bags (blind tasting), numbered, and lined up and ready to taste. Instructions were given for the grading/scoring process and a first wine was presented by the host to set the process up. After the first tasting the guests were set free to choose, taste, and score as they pleased.
What a great time!! We had a blast and the different wines were tremendous. We tried everything from a 50 cent bottle to a bottle averaging about $150.
We announced two winning (?) categories. The first category was for overall best wine. The second was for the worst tasting.
Your SCWG highly recommends a home wine tasting party! Enjoy it try some different themes too. Some of the themes we thought of are:
Whatever you choose make sure to have enough food on hand (we had plenty of leftovers) to pair and experiment how food can change the wine's taste. Also, don't forget to have the water available for guests to clean the pallet and keep hydrated.
SCWG will have pictures from our party posted soon. We will also compile the information from last night on the different wines, so you can see which one won and how the others faired by the everyday average wine tasters just like you!!
Stay tuned and Wine On!

- Select a country and all wines need to be from there
- Select a price limit (low or high)
- Red only, white only
- Select a vintage range or specific year only

Home Wine Making:
8/20/11:
Just ordered a home wine making kit from Midwest Supplies (www.midwestsupplies.com). Lets see what a beginning amateur wine maker can do from home. If it works, I will DEFINITELY let everyone know. If it doesn't, well, uh...
Anyhow, stay tuned.
